Contractors accused of stealing more than $8K from homeowner

Linda Lee Woods, Michael McIntyre charged with theft

Two people are accused of failing to live up to their end of a deal to make repairs to a man's water-damaged home.

San Antonio police arrested Linda Lee Woods, 46, Thursday on a charge of theft involving the elderly. An arrest warrant affidavit also identified Michael McIntyre, 47, as a suspect in the case, although it's unclear whether he also has been taken into custody.

The affidavit stated that a 67-year-old man told police he hired the couple last April to fix water damage to his home, and paid them more than $8,400 as a down payment.

He said they told him the entire job would cost more than $128,000, an amount his insurance company believes is excessive, the affidavit stated.

Police investigated the case and said they found that the pair had not done any work, the affidavit stated.

It stated that when they questioned the suspects, they told them that the homeowner actually owes them money -- more than $17,000 for expenses, including airfare, hotel rooms and car rentals. Woods was booked into the Bexar County jail with bond set at $15,000.
