San Antonio residents participated in an electronic waste recycling event Saturday at the Mission Park pavilions.
The event, designed to encourage people to recycle old electronics, was held in conjunction with the celebration of this year's Basura Bash.
At the end of February, some 1,800 volunteers helped clean 2,100 pounds of trash from the San Antonio River during the annual event.
Saturday's gathering was a way to thank those volunteers.
Electronics recycling company Corona Visions, Inc. was on hand to collect any unwanted electronics to help residents dispose of them safely.
"Events like this, we can drag in anywhere from 200, 300 pounds to 6,000-7,000 pounds," said Vandell Norwood of Corona Visions, Inc.
Residents were encouraged to drop off unwanted computers, cellphones, memory cards and video games.
