CPS: Boy, 5, found locked in closet ready to be released from hospital

Custody hearing must be held before boy can be released

Officials say the boy who was nearly starved to death allegedly at the hands of his family is now healthy enough to leave the hospital.

Jordan Bleimeyer, 5, was severely malnourished when he was found weighing just 29 pounds at the end of March.

A Facebook page dedicated to helping Jordan released an update Monday saying he has gained four pounds bringing his weight to 33 pounds. The page is called "Toy Drive for Baby Boy Bleimeyer."

Investigators have arrested the boy's father and stepmother, Brad and Tammi Bleimeyer, and charged them with endangering a child. They're accused of locking Jordan in a closet and not feeding him.

Authorities say Jordan cannot be released from the hospital until a custody hearing is held.

A judge could decide Tuesday whether to release Jordan to his biological mother, other relatives, or Children's Protective Services.
