Border Patrol agents save man's life, help rollover victims

Man called 911 after he became lost in brush, began to suffer heat-related symptoms

FALFURRIAS, Texas – Border Patrol agents in the Rio Grande Valley saved the life of a severely dehydrated man who was lost in the brush and assisted victims of a rollover accident in two separate incidents Wednesday.

Agents assigned to the Border Patrol Search, Trauma, and Rescue (BORSTAR) unit rescued the man around 3 p.m.

The man, an illegal immigrant from Guatemala, called 911 after he became lost in the brush and began to suffer from heat-related symptoms, a release stated.

Agents located the man, treated him and transported him to an ambulance that drove him to a hospital in Edinburg.

The second incident occurred that evening when agents patrolling Highway 281 south of FM 755 drove up to a rollover accident involving a truck.

The agents noticed both passengers sitting outside of the vehicle and rendered aid until local emergency services arrived and took over the medical care, the release stated.
