Spokesman: Dwight Freeman, 50, fatally injured in accident

SAN ANTONIO – An employee at the Southwest Research Institute in the 6200 block of Culebra Road died on the job Wednesday, a spokesman for the company announced.

Dwight Freeman, 50, a technician in the Engine, Emissions and Vehicle Research Division, was apparently fatally injured in an accident while working in a lab there around 10:35 a.m. on Wednesday.

A police spokesman said initially that Freeman's death was the result of some kind of seizure, however SRI officials have not confirmed how how died.

Dr. Tim Martin, director of communications for SRI, said in the coming days, company staff will be review the circumstances surrounding Freeman's death.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of the employee," Martin said in a statement.
