SAN ANTONIO – A 37-year-old man who has a prior murder conviction is facing another charge related to violence.
Abel Campos was arrested Thursday on a charge of aggravated assault related to domestic violence.
San Antonio police said the victim, a 33-year-old woman, told them she feared he would have killed her too if she hadn't gotten help from a neighbor, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.
The woman told officers that Campos had assaulted her and held a shotgun to her head inside their home on Wednesday, the affidavit stated.
She said when she found an opportunity to escape, she ran out the front door of their home and into the home of a neighbor whose door was open.
The neighbor told police that Campos soon followed and attempted to pull the victim out of her home, the affidavit stated.
She said she then grabbed her own shotgun and pointed it at Campos, ordering him to leave, the affidavit stated.
Campos ran from the home but was taken into custody the following day.
