Woman bound with duct tape during home invasion

2 men break into NE San Antonio home, steal woman's purse

SAN ANTONIO – A woman in her 70s was bound with duct tape during a home invasion on the Northeast Side early Thursday morning, San Antonio police said.

According to a preliminary SAPD report, two men forced their way into a home in the 8800 block of Garden Quarter around 4:20 a.m.

"Coming home and finding your house broken into is one thing, but having them come in on you and tape you up ... they taped her hands and feet together and left her on the couch," said next-door neighbor Polly Oliver. "She's doing pretty good. She's a lot calmer than I would be, most likely."

Police said the woman was sleeping on the couch in the living room, waiting for a relative to take her to an appointment.

She woke up and found the two men inside. The suspects tied the woman up and one stayed with her as the other rummaged through the home.

From what the victim told her neighbor, things almost got much worse.

"One of them wanted to shoot her, and he said, 'Let's just shoot her,' and the other one said, 'Oh no,'" Oliver said.

The suspects took off with the woman's purse. Police were called when the relative arrived at the home and found the woman about 30 minutes after the home invasion.

Police said they got a brief description of the suspects because the woman did not want to look at them. No arrests have been made.
