Oil rig explodes in Upton County, Texas


UPTON COUNTY, Texas – Three men died in a reported oil rig explosion in West Texas early Tuesday morning.   

The victims and a fourth worker were on site when the explosion occurred in Upton County.

The fourth man was not transported to the hospital, sheriff's deputies said.

NewsWest9 reported the men were working for Mason, a pulling unit company, that was contracted by Parsley Energy.

Family members told NewsWest9 the victims were all related.

Upton County sheriff's deputies said the investigation is in its early stages and OSHA investigators will be on site to determine a possible cause.
