Pregnant woman killed in crash with suspected drunk driver

Police say man fled crash scene leaving victims behind

SAN ANTONIO – A pregnant woman is dead after a crash involving a suspected drunk driver.

Police say the 35-year-old woman died early Saturday morning during surgery after the man crashed his pick-up into a car she was riding in.

The crash happened in the 5900 block of South Presa around 12:45 a.m.

Traffic investigators say the suspected drunk driver crashed his pick-up into the car the woman, her husband and 1-year-old child were in, and then walked away from the wreck without stopping to render aid or check on the victims.

They say a witness caught the man and returned him to the scene.

Police say the woman's husband is in critical condition from the wreck, and the 1-year-old baby is OK, but in the hospital for observation.

The suspected drunk driver now faces DWI and failure to stop and render aid charges.
