Uber celebrates Fiesta with free rides

Uber to offer free transportation on Thursday

Startups like Uber -- an app that lets people hail a taxi or car service from their mobile phone -- say they are facing unfair legal challenges from the established players.

SAN ANTONIO – Uber is making an appearance back in San Antonio just in time for Fiesta.

The transportation service is providing free rides for partygoers on Thursday, April 23.

Here's how you can enjoy the free service:

  • Open the app this Thursday, April 2d after 4 p.m. (and until 4 a.m. on Friday)
  • Toggle over to your ride of choice and hit request
  • Connect with a driver and enjoy a free trip
  • Demand may be high, so keep trying!

Uber does ask that you limit trips to under 20 miles.  The free rides are for trips originating in San Antonio and Bexar County.

Ever since Uber was forced to leave the city, there has been a lot of buzz and concern on how San Antonians will get home safely.

The company was founded with the goal to provide a reliable option when you need it most.
