Florida murder suspect captured in SA

Jose Aguirre, 24, arrested Tuesday night by members of the U.S. Marshals Service Lone Star Fugitive Task Force

SAN ANTONIO – A fugitive wanted in connection with a slaying in Florida was arrested Tuesday night in San Antonio.

According to a press release, Jose Aguirre, 24, was taken into custody by members of the U.S. Marshals Service Lone Star Fugitive Task Force.

A warrant was issued for Aguirre's arrest by the Mount Dora Police Department in Florida, where he was alleged to have committed first-degree murder.

Members of the Lone Star Task Force received information that placed Aguirre's whereabouts in the San Antonio area.  

Task force officers then determined Aguirre was hiding out in a house located in the 800 block of Bernard Drive on the South Side.

According to the release, task force officers entered the house, identified themselves, contacted Aguirre and took him into custody without incident.

U.S. Marshals said Aguirre was allegedly involved in the fatal shooting of a man on June 6 in the parking lot of a nightclub in Mount Dora, FL.

Aguirre was being held in custody at the Bexar County Sheriff's Office awaiting extradition to Florida.
