Body found floating in SA River downtown

SAN ANTONIO – The body of a man was found floating Wednesday morning in the San Antonio River downtown.

A passerby walking on Cesar Chavez Boulevard near South St. Mary's Street around 7 a.m. found the body on the east bank of the river and called police.

San Antonio police spokesman Sgt. Javier Salazar said it appears a man was walking or jogging along the river and may have had a medical episode and fell into the river.

There were no signs of trauma and foul play is not suspected, Salazar said.

The Bexar County medical examiner will conduct an autopsy.
