SAN ANTONIO – A 31-year-old man was arrested Monday in connection with the shooting death of another man in early May.
Adrian Salazar was picked up by police without incident at a barbershop.
Police said Salazar was one of two men wanted in the slaying of Silvester Reyes, 29, who was found shot multiple times in a Ford pickup truck in the 100 block of Holly Street on May 5.
They said Salazar and another man, Jeremy Gutierrez, lured Reyes to the location under false pretenses to talk about a previous disagreement.
"There is some indication there may have been a relationship based upon drugs or illegal activity and that's what led to the suspects killing the victim," said Sgt. Javier Salazar, SAPD spokesperson.
Javier Salazar said both men, each armed with handguns, opened fire on either side of Reyes' truck, killing the victim and peppering his vehicle with bullet holes.
Gutierrez was arrested and charged a week after the shooting. Police said Gutierrez admitted to them how he shot and killed Reyes, according to Adrian Salazar's arrest warrant affidavit.
Police have not said if Adrian Salazar made a similar statement about his alleged role in Reyes' death.
The affidavit describes how SAPD detectives who already suspected Adrian Salazar, obtained video footage of him and Gutierrez in a vehicle matching a police description arriving at a hotel less than 20 minutes after the murder.
