Grief counselors at school of teen killed in crash

Nicholas Medlock, 17, died in crash near Huebner Oaks shopping center

SAN ANTONIO – Grief counselors will be on campus at Clark High School Tuesday in response to the weekend death of a 17-year-old student, Nicholas Medlock.

Pascual Gonzalez, a spokesman for the Northside Independent School District, confirmed that the counselors will be made available as needed for students and faculty members who may have trouble sorting through their grief.

Medlock was killed Saturday when he lost control of his car on Woodstone near the Huebner Oaks shopping center and it wrapped around a tree. Another person inside the vehicle with him suffered injuries.

San Antonio police said the cause of the crash was still under investigation.

Because there were no classes at Clark High School Monday due to the holiday, grief counselors were not made available until Tuesday morning.

Some students, meanwhile, have been coping with the loss on their own as much as possible.  Several of Medlock's friends and classmates gathered at the crash site Sunday and set up a memorial in his honor.
