Family displaced after hail punches holes in apartment roof

Incident occurred around midnight at Woodlake Village Apartments

KIRBY, Texas – A family was displaced from their home after hail punched holes through the roof of an apartment complex overnight, Kirby Fire Department officials said Wednesday.

The incident occurred just after midnight at the Woodlake Village Apartments, found in the 6000 block of Woodlake Parkway on the city's East Side.

Officials at the scene said the heavy hail storm had made holes in the apartment's roof, causing water to rush into the unit and the sheetrock to give way.

The Red Cross is now assisting the family.

Multiple cars were also damaged by the hail at the scene as well.
