Spurs super fans march to show support for Tim Duncan

Participants marched from Tower of the Americas to Alamo

SAN ANTONIO – Spurs super fans gathered Saturday to show their support for the team. Many of them wanted to give their final goodbyes to Tim Duncan.

“I love you Duncan. Oh, yes, I do. I love you Duncan. My heart is blue,” one fan chanted.

If you’re a Spurs fan, chance are you’ve heard of super fans. Sixty of them marched from the Tower of the Americas to the Alamo.

Their leader for the march was Mario Sosa, also known as “Ol’ Skool McGee.” Diehards and super fans alike were together for one simple reason. They wanted to remember the good times with Duncan on the team.

"I wanted for Timmy to hear about it. I wanted the word to get back to Tim Duncan and so that way he can turn on his TV right before he watches the Olympics or something and say, ‘Man, that's for me,’” Sosa said.

The super fans said they realized they were a bit late with their goodbyes, but said better late than never especially applies to their beloved future hall-of-famer, who was always on time.

Duncan retired after 19 seasons.

“He gave us his all. He gave us five championships,” Sosa said.

The super fans told KSAT 12 News they invited Duncan through his girlfriend. They said that he’s known for not being a social media guy. We’re not sure if he made it after all.
