Teen killed in shooting and vehicle crash identified

SAN ANTONIO – The Bexar County Medical Examiner's office has identified the teenager shot and killed during an apparent drug deal on the city's West Side.

Joseph Macias, 19, was shot along with two other people on August 7 while attempting to buy narcotics, police said.

According to police, someone fired multiple shots at their vehicle before the driver eventually crashed into a telephone pole.

All three people inside the car were taken to University Hospital for their injuries. The condition of the other two people is not known.

No arrests have been made in the case, but police say they have developed a suspect.

The investigation is ongoing.

One person is dead, and two others are in the hospital following a late-night shooting and vehicle crash, San Antonio police said Monday.

The shooting and crash occurred around 11 p.m. Sunday at Taoka Boulevard and Arvil Avenue on the city's West Side.

According to police the three men were at the intersection to buy unknown narcotics. That's when, police said, someone opened fire hitting all three men. Police said the driver eventually crashed into a telephone pole.

Everyone inside the vehicle was taken to University Hospital.

SAPD said one of the men from inside the vehicle has died at an area hospital. The victim’s name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

No arrests have been made in the case, but police say they have developed a suspect.

The investigation is ongoing.
