Elmendorf Lake Park improvements completed

SAN ANTONIO – Community members came together to celebrate completed improvements at Elmendorf Lake Park.

The West Side park has been closed for more than 20 months for the improvements.

The city and the county contributed a combined $16.2 million for the new additions, including new hike and bike trails, pedestrian bridges and a new playground.

“I think remodeling it in this area is good for the community. It makes it look nicer and newer,” Amanda Farias said.

There will be a grand opening celebration Saturday at the park at 10:30 a.m. After the celebration, there will be guided nature walks, fishing and fitness demonstrations.
