New scam artist tries to enter local homes with iPhone app

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas – A new scam artist has been operating in the New Braunfels area, claiming to own a phone that was “pinging” inside his targets' home.

The New Braunfels Police Department is warning the public about this new scam and posted a warning on their Facebook page.

The man would ring the resident’s door bell and present a phone with the “Locate my iPhone” app showing that his lost phone was inside the resident’s home.

The scam artist is described as a Hispanic male in his late teens, or early 20s.

He visited two homes and was able to give specifics about the daily movements of the potential victims.
