Johnson High School teacher accused of having sex with student

Alberta Padilla, 52, told police affair started while tutoring student

SAN ANTONIO – A teacher at Johnson High School has been arrested for allegedly having an improper relationship with one of her students.

Alberta Padilla, 52, reportedly told police she developed feelings for the boy, who is now a sophomore, when she began tutoring him in June of last year.

An arrest warrant affidavit said she told investigators they eventually began having a sexual relationship which continued for more than a year, ending last weekend.

The affidavit said Padilla bought clothing, food and a cell phone for the boy and often allowed him to stay at her home.

There is no mention of exactly how the case came to the attention of police.

However, the affidavit does say that investigators questioned Padilla's underage daughter who told them she suspected something was going on and mentioned it to another relative.

It says the girl, at one point, recorded a phone conversation the boy had with her relative.

She told police she overheard him expressing that he had also had feelings for Padilla and trying to convince the relative not to report it authorities.

Padilla was arrested Thursday on a charge of improper relationship between an educator and student.
