The theme this year is "Every second counts, plan two ways out."

Fire safety officials say it highlights the need for everyone to have a fire safety plan and to practice that plan.

"You want to make sure that before the emergency occurs you know what to do, where to meet and don't go back in," said Randy Jenkins, division fire chief for the city of San Antonio. "The only way to learn that is by practicing a fire escape plan, because fire does not come at a convenient time."

Officials say they want the posters to empower kids to know what to do in case of a fire.
