Elderly man hit, killed on West Side street

SAN ANTONIO – An elderly man was stuck and killed on the city’s West Side.

The call for help came out just after 8 p.m. Sunday.

When police arrived, they found an 84-year-old man had been hit and killed by a truck at the intersection of N. Colorado and Ruiz streets.

Police said the victim lived nearby and the area is poorly lit.

The department's Traffic Investigation Division was dispatched to help determine what led up to the collision.

The driver of the truck did stop and try to help the man until EMTs arrived, but they were unable to save him.
