Adam Caskey is the king of cool and thermometers

SAN ANTONIO – KSAT 12 meteorologist Adam Caskey is getting national recognition as one of the coolest meteorologists in the U.S.

The Washington Post cited Caskey’s Thermometer Thursday as one of the reasons he earned his spot on the list.

"I just have a passion for predicting the weather and making thermometers from scratch. I guess some people think that’s cool, and I’m fine with that," Caskey said.

As avid KSAT viewers know, Caskey makes his own homemade thermometers and gives them away to lucky winners of a weekly raffle.

Caskey’s "Rubble to Relic" series was also cited as a reason he earned extra cool points.

"Rubble to Relic" took a focus on the tornadoes that hit San Antonio over the summer.

Caskey took pieces of fence, flooring and trees and transformed them into thermometers for homeowners who suffered damage from the tornadoes.

"If my passion for the weather and making thermometers gets people excited and interested, I’m thrilled," Caskey continued.

Caskey joined KSAT in April 2014, after more than a decade of forecasting in Washington, D.C.

A native of Minnesota, his career has taken him from North Dakota to D.C. and finally the Alamo City.

Since then, he has worked with the largest broadcast weather team in South Texas as tornadoes, hurricanes, floods and droughts have impacted the area.

KSAT is proud of all the great meteorologists on the KSAT weather team and excited to celebrate Thermometer Thursday every week with Caskey and the rest of San Antonio's weather authority crew.
