Police: Scene clearing in Floresville after report of shots fired at nursing home Vice President Mike Pence to attend event in town tonight No description found
FLORESVILLE, Texas – There was a large police presence at a park in Floresville as of 4 p.m. Wednesday as the town was preparing to host Vice President Mike Pence at Floresville High School later in the evening.
Authorities in Floresville said they received a reports of a man fired two shots at the nursing home in town.
The park is located in the southern part of the city, near the state veterans home and approximately a mile from the high school.
There was a brief lockdown of all campuses in Poth ISD, about five miles from the reported shooting, which was lifted just before 5 p.m.
Law enforcement began clearing the scene just after 5 p.m.
Wednesday’s vigil comes days after a gunman walked into First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs and killed 26 people.
Police are interviewing two people who reported seeing a person open fire.
