SAN ANTONIO – A Christmas nightmare for a North Side family after police said a woman was beaten, choked out by her boyfriend and may have been held hostage in her own house.
Police said Adrian Soto, 39, choked the woman until she passed out.
He has a history of choking the woman he's involved with, according to the arrest report.
On Christmas Eve, police said Soto began to accuse her of having an affair with his brother and the argument turned violent.
The report states that's when Soto choked her unconscious, beat her and threatened to kill her. The assault left the victim with bruises on her neck and face.
Police said the victim's son went into the room to find his mother’s legs in the air as if she was trying to defend herself. He tried to intervene, but he too ended up fighting with Soto.
On Christmas Day, the victim woke up and began to argue with Soto about the fight.
The victim was so distressed her daughter called police and told police she thought her mother was being held against her will.
Police said when they arrived at the house they could hear the victim screaming through the door.
Once inside, officers arrested Soto. He has been charged with assault family choking strangulation and, as of Tuesday afternoon, was at the magistrate’s office waiting to be booked into the Bexar County Jail.
