SAPD: OfferUp transaction led to shooting death; 2 charged with capital murder

Stephanie Lopez, 35 and Michael Henderson, 25, charged in Robert Serna's death

SAN ANTONIO – Two people have been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a man in the parking lot of a Motel 6 on the South Side.

Michael Henderson, 25, was arrested by police Thursday on a capital murder warrant. Hours later, police announced the arrest of Stephanie Lopez, 35.

Both have been charged with capital murder in the death of Robert Serna, 33.

SAPD spokesperson Jennifer Rodriguez said Lopez and Serna met in the back motel parking lot in the 700 block of Hot Wells Boulevard early Friday morning.

Serna met with Lopez to discuss the purchase of a speaker through the app OfferUp.

As the two were speaking about the purchase, Henderson approached Serna and began to rob him, Rodriguez said. Serna was shot a short time later.

Surveillance video captured the incident and provided a description of the vehicle involved in the case, Rodriguez said.

OfferUp also provided information about Lopez to San Antonio police during the investigation.

Rodriguez said the case remains an active investigation and there is a possibility another person would be arrested in the case.
