Woman killed, boyfriend arrested in NE Side apartment shooting

Shooting reported at apartment complex on 4800 block of Goldfield

SAN ANTONIO – A 34-year-old man shot and killed his girlfriend at an apartment complex Thursday morning on the city's Northeast Side, police said.

Cameron Roby told police that he accidentally shot his girlfriend, Adrienne Dameron, but investigators apparently didn't buy his story, officials said. Roby is charged with murder.

"I'm sorry. I loved her with all my heart," Roby said to reporters as he was led to a police unit.

The shooting was reported around 9:30 a.m. at the The Park on Goldfield Apartments in the 4800 block of Goldfield off Interstate 35 and Rittiman Road.

Jennifer Rodriguez, a police spokeswoman, said Roby and Dameron, 34, were arguing prior to the shooting.

A Bexar County constable and a sheriff's deputy were at the complex serving eviction notices when the shooting erupted and came face-to-face with the man, police said.

"As they were walking the complex, a male exited the apartment, came up to the sheriff and constable, and admitted to accidentally shooting his girlfriend," said police spokesman, Officer Carlos Ortiz.

Roby was detained until police arrived at the scene.

The couple had been dating for six months.

An infant and another adult were inside the apartment at the time of the shooting, but weren't hurt, officials said.

The infant, whose mother was Dameron, was placed in Child Protective Services custody.
