Man shot, killed outside home on Highcliff Drive identified

SAPD says second victim possibly connected to shooting

SAN ANTONIO – A man was killed after someone drove up and started shooting at him outside his home, San Antonio police said.

Police said the man, who has been identified by the medical examiner as 75-year-old Charles Coker, noticed a suspicious vehicle outside of his home in the 3900 block of Highcliff Drive just before 1:30 a.m. Saturday.

When he went outside to see who it was, someone inside fired shots, police said. Police said Coker returned fire.

Coker was shot in the chest and died on the way to the hospital.

Police said another man with a gunshot wound showed up to Northeast Baptist Hospital shortly after.

Police are looking into whether the second victim was inside the vehicle the suspected shooter was in.
