UPDATE: Bexar jail inmate dies after being found unresponsive in cell

Joshua Andrew Miranda, 19, was awaiting indictment on aggravated assault charge

SAN ANTONIO – A Bexar County inmate found unresponsive in his cell Thursday afternoon has died.

Joshua Andrew Miranda, 19, was placed on life support due after suffering from an apparent medical, according to a statement issued by the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.

He was pronounced dead around 5:40 a.m. at the Baptist Medical Center.

Miranda had been in BCSO custody since Jan. 6, awaiting indictment for an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge.

Pending the outcome of the autopsy, a law enforcement agency will be appointed to oversee the investigation as part of the Sandra Bland Act.
