Teen killed in fatal rollover along Interstate 35 identified

SAN ANTONIO – A 19-year-old driver who was killed in a rollover wreck Saturday near Interstate 35 and Frio Street near downtown was identified by the Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office.

San Antonio police said  Mariana Otero was not wearing a seatbelt while traveling south on I-35 and attempted to take the Frio Street exit.

Her vehicle hit a concrete wall as it took the curve and fell off the ramp.

Otero was ejected, police said, as the SUV flipped and came to a rest in a grassy area. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 28-year-old passenger, who was wearing a seatbelt, was transported to Brooke Army Medical Center in stable condition, police said.
