Flores, who has been employed as a dispatcher since 2006, was previously arrested in 2011 on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, according to the Sheriff's Office. She was ultimately convicted of obstruction of a highway while intoxicated in 2013, in connection with the arrest, authorities said.

Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar went to the jail and informed Flores he would be drawing up papers to have her employment terminated as this was her second arrest.

“The history of her behavior and personal decisions is what has brought us to this point," Salazar said. "Her past history has clearly demonstrated a lack of accountability in the past. I personally served this employee with a proposed dismissal and we are handling this case administratively as swiftly and severely as allowable in accordance with civil service rules and guidelines.

"As I’ve stated before, any employee who decides to put the community at risk by driving while intoxicated will not be tolerated and (I) will do all that is within my power to separate them from this agency in order to maintain the integrity of the Sheriff’s Office. We will assist SAPD on the criminal case as needed.”

In the meantime, Flores has been placed on administrative leave, according to the Sheriff's Office.

The Sheriff's Office's Internal Affairs Unit will conduct an administrative investigation into Flores' arrest.
