Bexar County sheriff's deputy arrested on DWI charge

SAN ANTONIO – A Bexar County sheriff's deputy has been arrested on a drunken-driving charge.

San Antonio police said Sabrina Moreno, 24, was arrested early Friday morning near Interstate 10 and USAA Boulevard.

She was an 8-month employee of the Bexar County Sheriff's Office, officials said.

Moreno was put on probation and "termination procedures" have begun, officials said.

2 off-duty SAPD officers also charged with DWI

Two off-duty San Antonio police officers were also arrested overnight on drunken-driving charges, police officials said.

Gena Rodriguez, 39, was arrested after causing a three-car accident, police officials said. Her three children, one of whom was in a child safety seat, were in her vehicle at the time, police said. She was arrested on a drunken-driving charge.

Harold Thomaston, 46, was pulled over after running a red light in front of an officer and was charged with driving while intoxicated.

Both officers have now been placed on administrative leave pending internal and criminal investigations.

San Antonio police Chief William McManus said in a statement released Friday that he is disappointed that the officers would put public lives at risk.
