SAN ANTONIO – Crews are putting the finishing touches on Kallison Elementary School on the Northwest Side.
It is the 78th elementary school to join the Northside Independent School District. The school is located just outside Loop 1604 and Culebra Road.
Students will be welcomed for the first day of school on Aug. 28.
A tour revealed splashes of color throughout the campus.
Principal Billy Navin said it wasn't until just three weeks ago that he was able to actually work inside the building.
"The main part of the summer was spent in a portable — planning, hiring, just trying to create the best school possible,” he said.
On Thursday, Aug. 24, students will have the chance to meet their teachers and some of their classmates. Meet the Teacher Night is from 3:30-6:30 p.m.
