SAN ANTONIO – A 13-year-old boy has died after San Antonio police said he was shot in the head while at his family’s home during a drive-by shooting.
As of Sunday, the Bexar County Medical Examiner identified the boy as Mark Valdez.
The shooting happened around 8:53 p.m., Friday, in the 500 block of W. Vestal Place.
Police said two suspects in a white Ford mustang convertible drove up to Valdez’s home and opened fire.
Four people were inside of the residence at the time of the shooting and Valdez was shot in the head while in his bedroom, according to officials. The other three people in the house were uninjured.
Valdez was taken to University Hospital in critical condition. He later succumbed to his injuries, according to officials.
The suspects fled the scene westbound in their vehicle and as of last check, they are still at large, police said.
