Juvenile suspect bailed from car, was later found

SAN ANTONIO – One person is in custody after a high-speed chase ended in a three-vehicle crash in Northeast Bexar County Thursday morning.

The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office said the chase started after an SUV was stolen around 7:30 a.m. in Kirby.

Police officers began following the car and BCSO deputies joined the chase near FM 78 and Walzem Road, BCSO spokesperson Johnny Garcia said.

When the chase reached the area of Toepperwein Road near Sage Oak around 8 a.m., the driver of the stolen SUV began driving on the wrong side of the road, Garcia said.

The driver of the stolen vehicle then struck an SUV, Garcia said. A third SUV that was unable to stop collided with the two vehicles.

The suspect, who is a juvenile, bailed from the vehicle and ran through the neighborhood. He was later caught by officers.

Three people, including the suspect, appeared to have suffered minor injuries.
