SAN ANTONIO – Students at Bush Middle School in the North East Independent School District got an unexpected holiday on Friday due to a power outage at the school.

An email from the school’s principal was posted on social media on Friday saying a transformer that supplied power to the school failed. A spokesperson with NEISD confirmed that school had been canceled because CPS Energy estimated that it would take six to eight hours to make repairs and get the power restored.

The school is located in the 1500 block of Evans Road in Stone Oak.

An NEISD spokesperson said students are staying in the cafeteria and gyms until they can be picked up by parents.
