Man charged with arson after throwing molotov cocktail into window of group home Tyler Jon Bendet, 23, has been taken into police custody
SAN ANTONIO – A 23-year-old man is facing charges after he allegedly sparked a fire by throwing a molotov cocktail inside a group home.
Tyler Jon Bendet is charged with arson.
According to an arrest warrant affidavit, Bendet allegedly threw the molotov cocktail through a bathroom window around 3 a.m. on Aug. 11.
Police said witnesses told officers Bendet was upset that the owner of the home had kissed his ex-girlfriend on the forehead and gave her a hug while visiting her at the restaurant where she worked.
SAPD said that Bendet was caught on surveillance camera the next day lighting a fire at the restaurant where the ex-girlfriend worked.
Officers arrested Bendet when he went back to the group home a day later and started breaking windows, police said.
