BOERNE, Texas – Anyone planning an outing at Boerne City Lake should bring their food already prepared because barbecue cookouts are prohibited due to a high fire danger.
As of Thursday, the city banned the use of firepits and barbecue pits. The ones installed at the park will be covered to prevent them from being used.
City officials said the Boerne Fire Department has responded to 19 calls for brush or grass fires within the last month.
Boerne City Lake Park will be open from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. over the Easter weekend. The price for entry is $15 per vehicle on Friday and Saturday and $20 on Sunday. Once the park reaches its capacity limit, additional vehicles will be denied.
