Woman in car hit, killed by bullets fired outside East Side bar

Police still looking for shooter

SAN ANTONIO – Bullets fired outside an East Side bar early Monday morning struck and killed a woman sitting in the back seat of a car.

According to San Antonio police, the gunfire erupted after a disturbance at the bar, located in the 1500 block of Gevers Street.

However, they found the victim about a half mile away, in the 800 block of Hammond Avenue.

Officers said the two other people in the car with the woman did not realize at first that she had been hit.

They later pulled over and called for help.

The woman, who was in her 20s, was dead from a gunshot wound in her head when police found her.

Officers at the scene said they did not have any information on the shooter and had not made any arrests.

It was unclear whether the woman who was killed was the intended target of the shooting or, perhaps, was hit by a stray bullet.
