Abandoned bar on Southwest Side destroyed by early-morning fire, SAFD says

Fire was called in around 12:40 a.m. in 1900 block of Frio City Road

SAN ANTONIO – An old abandoned bar on the city’s Southwest Side was destroyed by flames early Friday morning, according to the San Antonio Fire Department.

The fire was called in around 12:40 a.m. in the 1900 block of Frio City Road, not far from Jupiter Street.

Firefighters said when they arrived, they found the abandoned building completely engulfed in flames. The building collapsed while they were putting out the fire, fire officials said.

The cause of the fire is not currently known. The building is considered a total loss.

The San Antonio Fire Department and the San Antonio Police Department both answered the call.

There were no reports of any injuries.
