A 15-year-old girl was killed Thursday on the Southwest Side by a hit-and-run driver, police said. The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victim as Marisa Duran. A 2011 Honda Pilot traveling westbound struck her and fled the scene south on Moon Valley Drive. The Medical Examiner's Office was notified but could not make it to the scene due to the icy road conditions. The driver, identified as Miguel Barbosa, 38, was arrested and charged with failure to stop and render aid resulting in death.

The suspect then ran over a teenage girl who was attempting to get the truck back, he said, breaking the girlโs leg. The officer in the SUV, who has been with the department for 2 years, was taken to an area hospital for treatment as a precaution. Brown said the chase was authorized by a sergeant because of the robbery and the assault on the teenage girl.

No one was home when the fire started shortly before 4 a.m. in the 1300 block of Keats Street. The home is actually more of a freestanding apartment behind a main house. At the apartment, arson investigators appeared to focus on items from inside the home. Firefighters said they believed the fire may have been accidental, but they called in arson investigators to make sure that was the case.

Aggravated sexual assault suspect killed in officer-involved shooting on SW Side: SAPD
SAN ANTONIO - An aggravated sexual assault suspect is dead after a shooting involving a San Antonio police officer during a Lone Star Fugitive Task Force operation on the Southwest Side, according to the San Antonio Police Department. The shooting was reported Wednesday night at a Walmart gas station near Southwest Loop 410 and Ray Ellison Boulevard. When a San Antonio police officer, who is part of the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, approached the suspect, the officer saw the suspect had a long rifle with a drum magazine attached, McManus said. The officer felt compelled to use deadly force, fired, I believe, one time at the suspect, and (the suspect) was subsequently transported to the hospital, McManus said. Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said the suspect was involved in a case that happened a couple of days ago.
