SAFD said the fire started in a room attached to the back of the main house. That room did have a doorway leading outside but did not open to the main house, resulting in some difficulty for firefighters, according to SAFD.

After firefighters responded to the room, they went into the main house to extinguish flames that spread there.

No one was at home at the time time of the fire. A dog that was trapped inside was rescued and given oxygen, but it is unclear if the dog survived.

The damage is estimated at about $20,000.
