These discounts can help you tackle spring cleaning, allergies

Consumer Reports’ highly rated vacuum, string trimmer, air purifier on sale

SAN ANTONIO – Spring is just around the corner and that means spring cleaning, yard work and seasonal allergies.

It also means sales on some products to help you tackle them all.

“March is the first month of the year without a major shopping holiday, but there are still opportunities to find savings on something you may need right now,” said Consumer Reports’ Samantha Gordon.“ Our research has shown that air purifiers and vacuums tend to be especially affordable this month.”

Consumer Reports tracks the prices of many of its top tested products all year long, so it knows exactly when to shop for them.

Here are the top products to look out for in this month’s Best Time to Buy.

The Samsung Jet Bot AI+ VR50T95735W is on sale for as low as $679 at Amazon. That’s half price. It performed well in Consumer Reports tests on carpet, bare floors, pet hair and around edges and corners.

Spring also means allergies and dreaded oak pollen. If you want to try an air purifier, the Blueair Protect 7470i is now $380.99 at Best Buy. That’s also half price. In tests, it got excellent marks for removing dust, smoke and pollen.

It’s about time to break out the yard tools. The DeWalt String Trimmer DCST922P1 is discounted by about $25 to $195.16 at Amazon.

You likely won’t need a space heater much now, but you can save now for next winter on the Vornado VMH600. It’s as low as $159.99 at Amazon. Consumer Reports called it the best overall performer of all the space heaters in its tests.

March can also be a good time to invest in replacement windows. They’re a significant up-front cost, but can help insulate your home and help on utility bills.
