Attorneys need more evidence in case of child’s body dumped in ravine

SAN ANTONIO – The case of a man accused of leaving a 5-year-old boy’s body in a Colorado ravine is at a standstill.

Attorneys on both sides told the judge together that they were waiting to get more evidence.

Daniel Garcia was charged with injury to a child in 2021. The child’s mother, Nickolle Aguilar, is also facing charges.

The boy’s body was found in Colorado on Aug. 25, 2021, just days after his grandmother told police she suspected the had boy died earlier in a San Antonio motel.

The couple is accused of burying the boy’s body in a remote location and then going to Costa Rica.

Both attorneys said they’re waiting for key security footage from the couple’s time in Costa Rica and to hear back from the FBI.
