SAN ANTONIO – A local woman has been arrested after police say she stabbed a man during an altercation on the city’s West Side late Monday night.

Evelyn Monsivais, 29, was taken into police custody.

Officers had responded just before 10 p.m. to the 8100 block of Golden Harvest, not far from Grissom and Culebra Road after receiving word of a disturbance at the location.

According to police, Monsivais and an unidentified 28-year-old man had gotten into a fight when she stabbed him in the back and then cut him several times in the arms.

Police said Monsivais was detained at the scene and after being questioned was arrested for a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The man was taken by ambulance to University Hospital, where he’s expected to recover.
