Registered sex offender wanted again for child sex crime in Comal County

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas – A registered sex offender who was arrested earlier this month on child sex crime charges is once again wanted by law enforcement authorities.

Jarrod Gaines Kirkus, 40, of Marion, was arrested on July 12 after Comal County Sheriff’s Office deputies said he was caught picking up a young female at her home in late June.

Kirkus was charged with child trafficking to engage in sexual conduct, a first-degree felony, and sexual assault of a child, a second-degree felony.

The day after Kirkus was arrested, jail records show that he was released on cash bonds totaling $350,000.

On Friday, Comal County SO announced that a new arrest warrant for possession with intent to promote child pornography was issued on July 20 for Kirkus.

Kirkus is a registered sex offender in Guadalupe County and lures his victims through the Snapchat app, deputies said.

Anyone who has information on Kirkus is asked to call 830-620-TIPS (8477) or 1-800-640-8422. Anonymous tips can also be submitted online on the Crime Stoppers website and on P3tips.com.

Tips that lead to an arrest could result in a cash reward of up to $4,000.
