SAN ANTONIO – A convicted felon on Wednesday was sentenced again, this time for murder.
Justin Hunt, per a plea deal, was given 34 years in prison for the gruesome murder of Matthew Pacheco-McKinney, 32.
The arrest affidavit said Pacheco-McKinney’s body was found dumped outside a vacant apartment in Live Oak. He had been tied up, tortured, shot and injected with bleach.
An informant told police Hunt shot Pacheco-McKinney after he got into a fight with two other men inside a home on Montgomery Drive on the Northeast Side.
Hunt was arrested and charged more than a month after the murder. He said nothing as 186th District Court Judge Kristina Escalona sentenced him.
Hunt is a habitual offender and had two prior felony convictions that were taken into consideration, per the plea.
Pacheco-McKinney’s mother was in court and faced Hunt after the sentencing as she gave a victim impact statement.
“I feel like you deserve life in prison since you took life away,” Stephanie Pacheco said. “May you rot in hell, and worse is done to you.”
A co-defendant in this case was accused of dumping Pacheco-McKinney’s body and was charged with alter/destroy/conceal a human corpse, but had their charge dismissed last summer.
Hunt was also given a 10-year sentence for a separate felon in possession charge, which will run concurrently with the 34 years. He is eligible for parole after serving half his sentence.
