SAN ANTONIO – New video released by the San Antonio Police Department on Tuesday shows a person of interest in connection with a downtown shooting that left a man dead.
Officers responded to the shooting just before 5 a.m. Aug. 30 in the 600 block of Hemisfair Plaza Way.
When they arrived, police said they found Jonathan Alderete, 35, with a gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital and later pronounced dead.
In the 40-second surveillance video released Tuesday, the person of interest is seen an hour before the shooting entering and leaving the Denny’s on East Commerce Street. Police said the man is around 20 to 24 years old and about 5 feet 10 inches tall. In the video, he is wearing red shorts and a black hooded sweatshirt.

Suspect in custody
Days after the shooting, police arrested Isean Hardeman, 23, at a South Side apartment.
Police said there was a physical confrontation between Hardeman and Alderete before he was shot and killed.
According to his arrest affidavit, surveillance video showed Hardeman and three other people taking a basketball that belonged to Alderete.
