Mom who lost teen son to suicide participates in local bullying-prevention summit

SAN ANTONIO – Maurine Molak has fought to raise awareness about cyber bullying since her 16-year-old son David Molak killed himself after relentless bullying.

On Saturday, Molak, city officials and other anti-bullying advocates participated in an anti-bullying summit where participants discussed government progress in bullying prevention and mediation, areas for collaboration, personal bullying experiences and ways for people to engage elected officials.

Last year, Molak worked to get David's Law passed, which protects students from the threat of cyber bullies in and out of school.

The foundation has raised awareness about the seriousness of the issue, prompting familiies to become more involved with their children and their online presence.

"Nothing will bring David back," Molak said. "None of this is worth it what happened to him. But we are helping families and that is what is important to us."
