Stacy Mascarena killed on July 24

SAN ANTONIO – Donna Barrientez is tormented by the memory of her daughter Stacy Mascarenas' murder.

Mascarenas, 26, was stabbed to death on July 24 at the Terrace for Haven for Hope Apartments in the 700 block of North San Marcos.

"I saw him plunge the knife into her and when I got there she said, ‘Mom’ and I grabbed him around his neck," Barrientez said.

Barrientez was able to hurt the attacker but unable to stop him.

“I stabbed him twice and he stabbed me twice," said Barrientez, describing the wounds on her leg and near her hip.

The attacker ran away, but not before Barrientez got a look at his face.

“I know his face. I know he had no facial hair (and) he had a black hoodie, black pants," Barrientez said.
